KULOB, February 9, Asia-Plus — The Kulob-based NGO “Nakukor” that has been implementing the “Prevention of Spread of HIV/AIDS amongst Labor Migrants and Members of Their Families” program in Kulob and Muminobod since 2005 yesterday extended the program implementation into Shuroobod and Vose districts.
The “Nakukor” head Bahodur Hoitov has told Asia-Plus that 16 volunteers were trained and explanatory work in the new two districts started opportunely.
“This project has been approved and financially supported by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM),” said the Asia-Plus interlocutor, “The main objective of the project is to cover as many as possible labor migrants and members of their families.”
“25 volunteers have been trained to work in four districts of the Kulob region,” said Hoitov, “Volunteers are mainly working at the Kulob airport, bus terminals and railway stations, secondary schools and other educational institutions and markets.”
The organization also plans to establish cooperation with the military prosecutor’s office, military hospital and pretrial detention facility’s administration.
