Uzbekistan raises extra transit fee for Tajik vehicles

DUSHANBE, March 2, 2011, Asia-Plus – | Yesterday the Government of Uzbekistan has increased an additional transit fee paid by foreign vehicles which cross the Uzbek-Tajik border.

According to Uzbekistan Government’s decision of February 17 this year, the transit fee for Tajik trucks and buses has increased from $90 to $103 USD, www.uzdaily.uz reports.

Uzbekistan has also increased similar fee for vehicles and buses of other states from $200 to $230 USD.

According to the document, new transit fees were officially introduced on March 1 this year.

Transit fees are not paid by vehicles of those states which have related international agreements with Uzbekistan which exclude payment of any fees for the use of Uzbekistan’s roads.

Transit fees are paid by all foreign vehicles straight at customs centers located on Tajik-Uzbek border.
