Tajikistan ranked among three CIS nations with highest inflation rate in Q1 2011

DUSHANBE, May 6, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics has ranked Tajikistan among three CIS nations with the highest inflation rate for the first quarter of 2011.

According to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics, in January-March 2011, the highest inflation rate has been reported in Kyrgyzstan (20.3 percent), which is followed by Belarus (12.5 percent) and Tajikistan (12.1 percent).

In Armenia, inflation for the same three-month period stood at 11.1 percent, in Russia – 9.5 percent, in Azerbaijan – 9.1 percent, in Kazakhstan – 8.5 percent, in Ukraine – 7.7 percent, and in Moldova – 6.1 percent. 

Apart from inflation rates, the CIS Committee for Statistics released data on industrial production during January-March 2011.

The industrial production within the CIS area reportedly rose 7.0% in average compared to the same period of 2010.

The highest industrial production growth has been reported in Belarus (11.8 percent).  In Ukraine, the industrial production rose 9.7 percent, in Uzbekistan – 6.2 percent, in Kazakhstan – 6.0 percent, in Russia – 5.9 percent, in Tajikistan – 5.4 percent, in Armenia – 4.8 percent, and in Azerbaijan – 0.3 percent.

In Kyrgyzstan, the industrial production has fallen 0.3 percent over the report period.

The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics does not have industrial production growth rates for Turkmenistan and Moldova in its report.
