DUSHANBE, May 26, 2011, Asia-Plus — Mr. Zubaydullo Zubaydov, Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan, met with Mr. Tariq Iqbal Puri, Chef Executive Officer (CEO) of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), in Islamabad on May 25, the Tajik MFA information department reports.
In the course of the talks, the two discussed issues related to preparation of a visit of a large delegation of Pakistani entrepreneurs to Dushanbe. The Pakistani entrepreneurs are expected to pay visit to Tajikistan from May 30 to June 2.
During the meeting, the Pakistani side noted that businesspeople from Pakistan are interested in participation in implementation of various projects in Tajikistan, the source said.
The sides reportedly outlined sectors like industry, energy and agriculture as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.
Established on November 8, 2006, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has Ministry of Commerce as its administrative ministry. TDAP is the successor organization to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and is mandated to have a holistic view of global trade development rather than only the ‘export promotion’ perspective of its predecessor.
According to TDAP’s website, it participates in 40 to 60 international trade exhibitions annually, sends 20 to 40 trade delegations abroad every year, organizes the EXPO PAKISTAN annually in Pakistan, which is well-attended by foreign buyers, runs the Expo Center, Karachi providing a permanent exhibition space for holding trade events, implements various Trade Policy Initiatives announced by the Commerce Ministry, and undertakes various sector-development projects from the Export Development Fund.
