KHUJAND, June 25, 2011, Asia-Plus — The Khujand-based jeans manufacturing enterprise, closed joint-stock company SATN, has been forced to raise prices for its products due to rising domestic cotton prices, Abdumumin Jourayev, a chief accountant with the enterprise, said in an interview wit Asia-Pus.
“Following last year’s cotton price hike, SATN has been forced to raise its product prices by some 15 percent,” said Jourayev, “Now, to hold its ground in European market, primarily in Italy, SATN should improve quality of its jeans.”
According to him, the enterprise has manufactured some 340,000 jeans both for adults and children since the beginning of this year and 95 percent of them were sold through Carrera into Europe and the remainder was sold in domestic market.
540 people now work for SATN at an average monthly wage of 824 somoni, Jourayev added.
Registered in 2000, SATN has carried out the full cycle of work since 2006. The enterprise is owned by Carrera.
