Sangtuda-1 shareholders’ meeting decided not to pay dividends yet

DUSHANBE, July 6, 2011, Asia-Plus — An annual general meeting of shareholders of open join-stock company (OJSC) Sangtudinskaya GES-1 took place in Dushanbe at the end of last week.

According to the Sangtudinskaya GES-1 press center, the meeting reviewed the results of the past year’s work and considered the issue of allocation of profits and losses for 2010.  The shareholders have decided not to pay dividends yet.

The annual meeting also elected the board of directors and examining body of the company.

Tajik Minister of Energy and Industries Gul Sherali, Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management of Tajikistan Davlatali Saidov, Head of the “Central Asia” Geographical Division within Inter RAO YeES (Russia’s Unified Energy System) Dmitry Volkov, Member of the RAO YeES Board also Head of the Strategy and Investment Unit of the RAO YeES Ilnar Mirisiyapov, Inter RAO YeES Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Dmitry Palunin, Principal Director General of the Rosenergoatom Concern Eduard Smelov, deputy Chairman of the Board of Inter RAO YeES also Head of the Capital Construction and Engineering Unit Yuri Sharov have been elected members of the Sangtudinskaya GES-1 Board of Directors.

The examining body members include Alexander Abramkin (Russia), Aleksey Gormadzkiy (Russia), Mikhail Kuzmenko (Russia) and Siadali Akhtamov (Tajikistan).

Limited liability company, Tajik Audi Service, has bee chosen to conduct audit at the company in 2011.

Alexander Belov was unanimously reelected Director General of OJSC Sangutdinskaya GES-1.     

The Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) is located on the Vakhsh River.  Construction commenced during the Soviet period in the 1980s, but halted in the beginning of the 1990s due to lack of financing when the station was about 20% complete.  An agreement with Russia allowed restarting the construction, with four units entering service in 2008–2009.  The plant was officially commissioned on 31 July 2009.  The plant now reportedly provides around 15% of Tajikistan”s electricity output.

Russia’s Inter RAO YeES and the Ministry of Energy and Industries of Tajikistan signed an agreement on the establishment of Russian-Tajik OJSC Sangtudinskaya GES-1 in Dushanbe on February 16, 2005.  The company was established to complete the construction of the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant.
