More than 110,000 tourists visited Tajikistan in H1 2011

DUSHANBE, July 13, 2011, Asia-Plus  — More than 110,000 foreign tourists have visited Tajikistan over the first six months of this year, Lochin Fayzulloyev, deputy head of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

“According to estimates of international experts, each foreign tourist spends on average US$500 during his/her stay in our country,” said Fayzulloyev.  “Hence, one may say that the tourism sector has attracted some US$56 million in the country’s economy over the first half-year of 2011.”

According to him, mainly tourists from Iran, Afghanistan, Russia, the United States, China, Germany, Japan, France, South Korea and some other countries have visited our country over the report period.  In all, tourists from 70 countries of the world have reportedly visited Tajikistan over the same six-month period.
