DUSHANBE, August 2, 2011, Asia-Plus — The Tajik authorities are currently considering a draft resolution on introducing seasonal restriction traffic rules for heavy trucks.
Abdumajid Sharipov, head of the road building directorate within the Ministry of Transport (MoT), says this measure is dedicated “to protect roads against negligent carriers who violate traffic rules for heavy trucks.”
“The highways are the most vulnerable and unprotected against heavy load especially in spring and summer,” said Sharipov, “Highway design in Tajikistan provides for the axial load limit that must not exceed 10 tons per one axes. It is international practice. Everywhere, increase in axial load of vehicles is limited by various legislative acts.”
According to him, the government made a decision on drafting the resolution on introducing seasonal restriction traffic rules for heavy trucks on June 30 this year.
