Tajikistan’s revenue from the export of precious metals and stones decreases by almost 60 percent

Over the first three quarters of this year, Tajikistan has exported more than 421 million U.S. dollars’ worth of precious a metals and stones, which is 59.4 percent fewer than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.  

Despite falling revenue, the share of precious metals and stones in the country’s exports in January-September this year amounted to more than 25 percent.  

Over the first nine months of this year, Tajikistan’s external trade turnover has amounted to 5.410.8 billion U.S. dollars, which is 18.8 percent or 857.4 million U.S. dollars more than in the same period last year, 

In January-September this year, the trade balance was negative and amounted to 2.133.2 billion U.S. dollars.

Over the same nine-month period, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 116 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations

Exports of goods in January-September have reportedly amounted to 1.638.8 billion U.S. dollars, which is 5.5 percent or 85.2 million U.S. dollars more than in the same period last year.

Over the reporting period, the country’s exports mainly included mineral products (cement, ores, concentrates, electricity, coal and other raw materials) – 40.6 percent, precious metals and stones – 25.7 percent, non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 15.6 percent, textile materials and products made from them – 12.9 cement, and products of plant origin – 2.8 percent.  

In January-September this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s exports were: Kazakhstan – 23 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; China – 18 percent; Uzbekistan – 9.2 percent; Turkiye – 8.7 percent; and Afghanistan – 5.8 percent.

Imports of goods into the country over the same nine-month period have amounted to 3.772 billion U.S. dollars, which was 25.7 percent or 772.3 million U.S. dollars more than in January-September last year.

The main items of Tajikistan’s imports over the reporting period were: mineral products (petroleum products, liquefied natural gas, coal and so forth) – 19 percent; machinery and equipment – 12.7 percent; base metals and manufactures thereof – 10.1 percent; vehicles – 10 percent; products of chemical industry – 9.6 percent; finished food products – 8.4 percent; products of plant origin – 8.3 percent; and others – 22 percent.  

Over the reporting period, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s imports were: Russia – 30.6 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; Kazakhstan – 18 percent; and China – 17.  

Over the same nine-month period, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: Russia – 22 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s external trade turnover; Kazakhstan – 19 percent; and China – 18 percent.
