On Tuesday, April 11, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseynzoda met the Resident Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network in Tajikistan (AKDN) Qozidavlat Qoimdodov.

According to the AKDN Office in Tajikistan, the parties discussed the activities of AKDN and its agencies in Tajikistan and the expansion of beneficial cooperation in future.

They also discussed issues related to launching and implementing social and economic projects of this Network in the country, including the First MicroFinance Bank (FMFB), the University of Central Asia (UCA), the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), Pamir Energy and Tcell companies.

Huseynzoda and Qoimdodov reportedly also exchanged views on opportunities to attract foreign investments and construction of sustainable and reliable infrastructure.

AKDN and its agencies focus on empowering and improving the lives of people in developing countries. AKDN programs are aimed at the well-being of all people, regardless of race, nationality, or religion.

AKDN works for an economically dynamic, politically stable, intellectually vibrant and culturally tolerant Tajikistan.  Several AKDN agencies collaborate to bring the government, private sector and civil society together, establish institutions and carry out programs to help with needs as diverse as banking, e-learning and avalanche prevention.  AKDN agencies cover all regions of the country and employ over 3,500 people in health care, education, business, finance and cultural activities.
