Assistant to the president on economic affairs represents Tajikistan at the ADB annual meeting in Korea

Assistant to the President on Economic Affairs Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, heading a Tajik delegation, is representing Tajikistan at the 56th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Board of Governors that will be held in Incheon, Republic of Korea, from May 2-5, 2023 under the theme “Rebounding Asia: Recover, Reconnect, and Reform,” according to the ADB Tajikistan Resident Mission (TJRM).

Around 5,000 participants are expected to attend, including finance ministers, central bank governors, senior government officials, members of the private sector, representatives of international organizations and civil society organizations, youth, academia, and the media.

ИЗОБРАЖЕНИЕ Nematullo Hikmatullozoda

The Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors is an opportunity to provide guidance on ADB administrative, financial, and operational directions. The meetings provide opportunities for member governments to interact with ADB staff, nongovernment organizations (NGOs), media, and representatives of observer countries, international organizations, academe and the private sector. ADB’s annual meetings have become a premier forum for the discussion of economic and social development issues in Asia and the Pacific.

Participants include: finance and economic planning ministers; senior government officials; representatives of the multilateral development bank community; investment bankers; representatives of nongovernment organizations; and members of the media.

ADB has partnered with Tajikistan since 1998. Under the bank’s country partnership strategy, 2021-2025, ADB operations pursue three strategic priorities: supporting structural reforms to enhance resource allocation and mobilization, improving labor productivity through human capital development, and fostering better livelihoods through investment in a land-linked economy.

To date, ADB has committed 155 public sector loans, grants, and technical assistance totaling more than 2.5 billion US dollars to Tajikistan.
