Kyrgyzstan

has sent emergency supplies to the victims of the two earthquakes that shook southern

Tajikistan

on July 29.

According to information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), four trucks loaded with emergency aid departed from Bishkek for the Kyrgyz southern region of

Osh

, where eight other trucks loaded with emergency aid will join them.

The MES source says the aid includes first aid medical, foods and building materials.  The amount of aid being delivered is over 4 million Soms (equivalent to US$100,000).

“From

Osh

, the convoy will go to Isfara and Khujand, and from there to

Dushanbe

and further to the Qumsangir district in Khatlon,” the MES source said, noting that Deputy Kyrgyz Emergencies Minister, Bolot Aidaraliyev, is supposed to accompany the humanitarian convoy to

Tajikistan

.

We will recall that two earthquakes that shook the Qumsangir district on July 29 killed three children aged 7 to 10 and injured some 20 people.  Some 1,500 families have been damaged by the disaster.
