Nearly 800 traffic accidents registered in Tajikistan this year so far

DUSHANBE, July 11, Asia-Plus — 798 traffic accidents have been registered in Tajikistan since the beginning of the year. 

According to Muhibullo Munavvarov, a spokesman for Tajik traffic police directorate, 185 persons, including 40 children, have been killed and 911 persons, including 238 children, have been injured in those 798 accidents.  

“To prevent traffic accidents and violation of the traffic regulations the traffic police officer have conducted a series of inspections across the country,” said Munavvarov, “Inspections have recoded numerous instances of violation of traffic regulations by drivers, especially by youth.” 

According to him, more than 20 children under 7 have become victims of the traffic accidents over the first six months of the year.

Every year, the traffic police carry out an operation, dubbed “Pedestrian”, across the country in August.  This year, the operation will be carried out from August 15 to September 10, the spokesman said.
