Two children killed, thee others wounded in Vose grenade explosion

KULOB, September 19, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Two children have been killed and three others have been wounded in grenade explosion in Khatlon’s Vose district.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Alfattoh Roziqov, deputy Khatlon prosecutor in charge of the Kulob region, said that the tragedy occurred in the village of Sarichashma yesterday, at around 4:00 p.m.

“A group of children aged 4 to 10 playing on the outskirts of the village found grenade in the trash dump,” said the prosecutor, “The grenade probably exploded as they tried to dismantle it.  As a result of the explosion an 8-year-old Mahmadjon Azizov and a 10-year-old Navrouz Zabirov died on the spot, while three other children aged 4 to 7 were wounded.”  The wounded children were taken to the central district hospital in Vose.
