The number of Tajiks killed in Domodedovo blast rises to three

DUSHANBE, February 2, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The death toll in the Domodedovo blast has risen to 36, as Tajik national, who was seriously wounded in the blast, died at the Burdenko Neurosurgical Institute.

Specialists from the Burdenko Neurosurgical Institute have done all that they can to pull Tajik national Salim Silmanov, who was seriously wounded in the January 24 blast at Moscow’ Domodedovo airport, to health, but unfortunately, they failed to save him.  Salim sustained serious shrapnel head wound and lost much blood.

According to the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, the 41-year-old Salim Silmanov died on the night of February 1-2.  The embassy is currently solving the issue of transporting the body of Salim Silmanov to Tajikistan.

The explosion happened in the international arrivals hall of the Domodedovo airport, which is the busiest airport serving Russia”s capital, Monday afternoon, at about 16:31 local time.  At least 36 persons, including three Tajik nationals were killed in the blast.  Investigators say the explosion, which happened in the arrivals hall, was a terrorist act.

According to the Russian Ministry of Health, a total of 132 people were hospitalized after the January 24 explosion at the Domodedovo airport.  As of today, 113 injured are still staying at hospitals.  At least 20 Tajik citizens were among those wounded in the Domodedovo explosion,
