DUSHANBE, May 6, 2011, Asia-Plus — Two persons were killed and at least two others were injured on May 4 as a car fell into a river in Varzob district.
According to the Interior Ministry traffic police department, the accident took place on the 35th kilometer of the Dushanbe-Khujand-Chanak highway Wednesday night. “Sadriddin Qodirov probably could not control his Mercedes and it fell over a 50-meter precipice into the river,” the source said.
As a result of the accident, two children – Sayfiddin, 6, and Hasan, 12 – were killed and the driver and another passenger – Shavkat, 19, – sustained various injuries and were taken to the hospital. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
