Shopping center burned down at the central market in Khatlon’s Panj district

A fire that broke out at a shopping center at the central market in Panj, the administrative center of the district of the same name, early morning today, at around 3:00 am, reportedly destroyed a space of 240 meters.

According to the Interior Ministry’s press center, seven fire engines were involved in extinguishing the fire.  The fire has reportedly been put out by 4:45 am.

Fireman managed to goods for 30 million somonis, the press center noted. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  According to the preliminary data, the fire was caused by malfunction.

It is not the first fire at Panj’s central market.  Two years ago, on January 2, 2021, a fire broke out at the market.  Investigation established at the time that local resident set fire to his wife’s shop out of jealousy, but the fire spread to other 14 shops.     

The man was tried, but he was released from the courtroom after he paid damages to some entrepreneurs.
