Two alleged terrorists killed after illegally crossing the border river in GBAO

Two alleged terrorists have been killed after they have illegally crossed the border river near Dashti Yazgulom village in Vanj district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

Citing the Public Relations Center of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan (SCNS), the state-run news agency Khovar reported on April 26 that the trespassers, who were “members of international terrorists organizations”, crossed into the territory of Tajikistan in the early morning of April 26 “for the purpose of committing a terrorist act”.

The incident reportedly took place in the area patrolled by the 11th frontier post of the “Darvoz” border unit.

“As a result of the anti-terrorist operation jointly conducted by the country’s law enforcement authorities, the terrorists were neutralized,” SCNS’s Public Relations Center was cited as saying.

Two assault rifles Kalashnikov, two foreign-made pistols, eight hand grenades, twelve magazine sf bullets, nineteen packages of explosives, two special means of communications and mobile phones were reportedly found at the scene of the incident.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted over this incident and operational-search and investigative activities are underway to identify the terrorists and other accomplices in this crime.
