Case of criminal ring, charged with numerous killings, moves to court

DUSHANBE, September 29, Asia-Plus  — The Prosecutor-General’s Office has completed investigation into case of three members of organized criminal grouping, charged with numerous killings, and the case has moved to the Supreme Court. 

The source at the Prosecutor-General’s Office said that the ring had been at work in the country since 1992.    

Bekmurod Kholiqov, Mahmadzohir Khojayev and Akbarali Sadtirov, who have appeared in court, face charges under several articles of the country’s Criminal Code ranging from extortion to rape and killing.  

            The preliminary investigation has established that Bekmurod Kholiqov was leader of this ring.  In the middle of the 1990s, they illegally acquired weapons.  In all, they have committed 27 serious crimes, including at least nine murders, since 1992, the source said.
