The Sughd military court on June 12 ruled that Zavqibek Ashourov be given a jai term of 24 years and that he should serve it in a high-security penal colony.  The sentence followed his conviction on charge of murder.

The court also sentenced two local residents – Gulchehra Azamova and 17-year-old Farshed Mahmoudov – to 25 years and seven years in prison respectively.

The source at the Sughd military court said that Ashourov, Azamova and Mahmoudov had been found guilty of killing 16-year-old resident of the Punuk jamoat Mirrajab Usmonov.

According to the source, they killed Usmonov in June last year and his dead body was found in February 2008.
