DUSHANBE, April 28, 2011, Asia-Plus — In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Deputy Dushanbe Mayor, Abdulhaq Oyev, revealed on April 27 that public transport fares will be raised in Dushanbe soon.
According to him, it is connected with increasing prices for oil products and spare parts. “However, it is not yet known when and how much the public transport fares will rise,” said the deputy mayor, “The mayor’s office has submitted all necessary documents for consideration to the antimonopoly agency. The fares will be raised only after the government endorses the new fares.”
Minister of Transport Nizom Hakimov also told reporters on Wednesday that the public transport fares will rise in Dushanbe and other parts of the country. The ministry of transport has applied on this subject to the government, he noted.
As far a food product prices in the capital are concerned, Deputy Dushanbe Mayor, Sayvali Safarov, said that the mayor’s office paid a special attention to that issue. “At the same time, it is difficult to interfere in the process of price formation at local markets under the conditions of market economy,” Safarov added.
