IRP deputy leader meets with U.S. ambassador

DUSHANBE, May 6, 2011, Asia-Plus  — A meeting of the deputy leader of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) Umarali Hisaynov, who is also member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) with the U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Kenneth Gross was held at IRP’s headquarters in Dushanbe on May 5.

According to the IRP press service, in the course of the talks, the U.S. diplomat noted that he saw the Islamic Revival Party as a normal political party that had done a lot for reestablishment of national accord in the republic.

“Hisaynov, for his part, noted that the IRP has stably good attitude to all countries of the world and expressed confidence that the United States experience in development of civil society will be in demand in our country,” the source said.

According to him, the IRP deputy leader also stressed that there ought not to link terrorism to Islam.  There is no link between Islam and terrorism, because Islam inherently is a peaceful religion and does not condone terrorism and violence, Hisaynov noted.
