DUSHANBE, May 17, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajik leader has offered to establish a Tajik-Afghan council for cultural affairs.
According to presidential press service, this issue was discussed here today at a meeting of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon with Afghan Minister of Information and Culture Sayed Makhdum Rahin.
In the course of the talks, the two reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
Tajik leader, in particular, noted that Tajikistan attached significance to expansion of cultural and informational cooperation with Afghanistan. Rahmon reportedly expressed satisfaction with the level cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.
The Tajik head of state noted that the time has come to prepare a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Afghanistan on cooperation in fields of culture and information, the source said.
During the meeting, President Rahmon reportedly offered to establish an interstate council of Tajikistan and Afghanistan for cultural affairs.
