DUSHANBE, May 24, 2011, Asia-Plus — The Islamic Revival Party (IRP) leader Muhiddin Kabiri, who is also member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), paid a three-day visit to the northern Sughd province from May 20 to May 22, IRP’s headquarters in Dushanbe reports.
During his stay in the province, Kabiri reportedly held a number of meetings with residents of the Qistakuz jamoart in Bobojon Ghafurov district and the cities of Isfara and Khujand.
During the meetings, the IRP leader noted that in connection with changes that had taken place on international arena, the Tajik authorities should pay more attention to issues related to tackling problems facing the population and ensuring holding of democratic and transparent elections in the country.
According to the report posted on IRP’s website, during his meeting with youth of Khujand that took place on May 22, Kabiri noted that along with studying canons of Islam they should also be able to cope with modern technologies and achievements of science.
