DUSHANBE, June 11, 2011, Asia-Plus — On Friday June 10, the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov met in Seoul, South Korea with Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kim Sung-Hwan.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says the sides discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and South Korea.
Tajik parliamentary speaker offered to hold Days of Culture of the Republic of Korea in Dushanbe and Days of Culture of Tajikistan in Seoul. The Korean side will reportedly assist with equipping a new building of the Tajik MFA with modern technologies. Seoul also intends to sponsor construction of a number of small hydropower plants in Tajikistan, the source said.
On the same day, Zuhurov held talks with Korean Minister of Labor Lee Chae-pil. The sides reportedly discussed organization of labor migration from Tajikistan to South Korea.
Shukurjon Zuhurov, heading Tajik parliamentary delegation, arrived in South Korea on June 6 and the visit will last until the end of this week. The delegation visits Seoul on invitation of Park Hee-tae, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
