Tajik leader to visit Kyiv and Moscow in December

DUSHANBE, December 2, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will attend informal summits of the CIS, the Eurasian economic Community (EAEC) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) that will take place in Moscow from December 19-20.

The CIS, EAEC and CSTO informal summits are expected to focus on the issues related to improvement of activities of these organizations.

The will-informed source in the Tajik Government says Tajik leader will visit Moscow after his official visit to Ukraine.   “No dates have yet been fixed for Tajik President’s visit to Ukraine,” he added.

As it had been reported earlier, President Rahmon is expected to pay an official visit to Ukraine in the second half of December.

The third meeting of the Tajik-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation will take place in Kyiv on December 5-6.

The meeting is expected to focus on priorities of economic cooperation between the two countries, including bilateral cooperation in sectors like energy, industry, agriculture, transport and construction.  The meeting participants will also consider bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine in the fields of education, science, culture and training of personnel, the source added.
