DUSHANBE, January 23, 2012, Asia-Plus — The Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan plans to intensify activities of its primary organizations in the provinces.
According to IRP’s website, the party deputy leader Mahmadali Hoit remarked this yesterday while addressing a meeting of the party primary organization for Dushanbe’s Sino district. The meeting was held to hear reports and elect new officials.
Safarali Oyev, the chairman of the IRP primary organization in Dushanbe’s Sino district, reported on the results of work carried out by the organization last year. The work of the IRP organization in Dushanbe’s Sino district was found satisfactory and Oyev was reelected as head of the IRP organization in the Sino district, the source said.
Founded in October 1990, the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan was registered on December 4, 1991. The party was banned by Supreme Court in June 1993 and legalized in August 1999. The Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan is the only Islamic party registered in CIS Central Asia. The party reportedly has more than 35,000 members. Current leader of the party is Muhiddin Kabiri. He took over following the death in 2006 of his mentor, Said Abdullo Nuri, the iconic founder of the IRP.
