DUSHANBE, March 2, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday March 1, President Rahmonov attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the five-star hotel in the center of the Tajik capital.
The Russian limited liability company “Russkiye Oteli” (Russian Hotels) will invest in the construction of this new hotel complex in Dushanbe and the Turkish company “ENKA” is the general contractor of this project.
Tajik president telling the hotel groundbreaking ceremony termed the construction of the world-class hotel as one more example of dynamically developing relationships between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation. On the expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, Rahmonov noted that the construction of Sangtuda-1 hydropower plant in Tajikistan was the first to give new impulse to further development of relationships between the two countries.
Head of state expressed confidence that the hotel would be finished in 15 months, by the date fixed. On the contractor, Rahmonov noted that the ENKA company had a goof experience of construction in many countries of the world. “Expansion of cooperation between the tree countries meet interests of the states and their peoples,” the president stressed, reminding that the construction of three other world-class hotels and textile complex would commence in the Tajik capital also this year. Noting that all these facilities may create new jobs for thousands of Tajiks, Emomali Rahmonov said that the mentioned textile complex would have a capacity of processing of 8,000 tons of fiber and exporting US$50 million worth of output a year.
Chairman of the “Russkiye Oteli” directors’ board also executive director of the “Russian-Asian Investment Company”, Stanislav Karabut, telling the ceremony named the hotel “unique and unprecedented” and expressed hope that it would be finished by the date fixed, in mid-2007. “It just the first step in our cooperation,” said Mr. Karabut, “The next our joint project will the A-class business center.”
