Tajikistan
have the right of adopting Tajik children left without care of parents. Parliamentarians approved a bill providing for this amendment to
Tajikistan
’s Family Code on April 12.
Abdujalil Bobokalonov, member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (
Tajikistan
’s lower chamber of parliament) Committee on Family, Healthcare and Environmental Protection Issues, presenting the bill noted that amendments made to the Family Code also provided for giving concrete expression to child’s rights.
Sherkhon Salimov, head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Constitution, Legislation and Human Rights, telling the session noted that the amendments also provided for ban on mediation in adoption of children.
Commenting on changes and addenda made to the Family Code, Mahkam Mahmudov, head of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), told journalists that the bill was not in contrary to international documents ratified by Tajikistan, including the UN Convention on Child’s Rights. According to him, more than 20 cases of adoption of Tajik children by foreigners have been reregistered in the republic.
