, May 4, Asia-Plus – An official visit of President Emomali Rahmonov to
Kazakhstan
is starting today, presidential press service reported.
During his two-day visit to Kazakhstan Emomali Rahmonov will meet with his Kazakh counterpart, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The two are supposed to discuss state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between
Tajikistan
and
Kazakhstan
in various sectors of economy, science, culture, etc. The heads of the states also will exchange views on problems of the regional security.
Rahmonov’s visit to
Kazakhstan
is expected to result in signing of a series of bilateral agreements on cooperation between the two countries in the fields of fighting economic crimes and violation of tax laws, mutual protection of secret information, international automotive communication, labor migration, etc. Since 1991, the countries have signed 50 agreements.
According to information from the State Committee for Statistics, a trade turnover between
Tajikistan
and
Kazakhstan
in the first quarter of this year has amounted to US$58.2541 million, which is 83.5 percent more than in January-march 2005.
Tajikistan
exports to
Kazakhstan
have amounted to US$9.1917 million and imports from
Kazakhstan
have amounted to US$49.624 million.
