Rahmonov condolences to Kocharyan on air crash over Black Sea

DUSHANBE

, May 4, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov expressed condolences to his Armenian counterpart, Robert Kocharyan, on the air crash over the

Black Sea

, presidential press service reported.

According to presidential press service, a telegram of condolences, in particular, says that

Tajikistan

was shocked by the news about the air crash.  Rahmonov also expressed his deep condolences to the families and friends of those who had been killed in that air crash.

The Airbus A320 en route Yerevan-Sochi crashed at about 02:15 local time as it made a second attempt to land at an airport near Sochi.  It was initially refused permission to land because of poor weather, which investigators blame for the crash.

The hunt for the bodies of passengers killed when an Armenian jet fell into the

Black Sea

has entered a second day, with divers working in rough weather.  Some media says that so far, 47 bodies of the 113 aboard the Armavia A320 jet have been retrieved from choppy seawaters.  The cause of the crash is not known but officials say the plane may have been brought down by bad weather as it tried to land in the Russian resort of

Sochi

.

Both

Russia

and

Armenia

have declared a day of mourning on 5 May, the Kremlin said.
