DUSAHNBE, June 30, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s MPs have unanimously endorsed a bill on symbols of the president of Tajikistan.
A regular sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the third convocation presided over by its head Saydullo Khairulloyev was held on June 30.
Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on State Construction and Local Government, Safarali Rajabov, presenting the bill noted that the president’s standard and insignia are symbols of presidential form of governance in the country.
Commenting of the president’s symbols, Mr. Rajabov told journalists that the president’s standard is a tricolor flag 1m x 2m (colors of Tajikistan’s national flag) featuring the image of lion with seven star around it, and the president’s insignia looks like the 1-Grade “Star of the President” Order.
“The president’s standard is raised during joint session of both chambers of parliament, during reception of official persons and other events,” said Mr. Rajabov, “The president’s insignia is bestowed on the President by Chairman of the Constitutional Court during the inauguration ceremony.”
Parliamentarians also adopted new laws, including “On Other Payments to the Budget”, “On Grains”, “On Competition and Limitation of Monopolistic Activity” as well as approved amendments made to a number of laws. The session also endorsed a resolution by the Majlisi Namoyandagon on establishment of diplomatic ranks for employees of diplomatic service of Tajikistan.
It was the last sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation and beginning on July 1, Tajik lower house will be in the summer recess. The next third session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation will start its work on October 1 this year.
