Power cutback will not affect multi-story residential buildings in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, November 29, Asia-Plus – Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev yesterday presided over a meeting with participation of heads of municipal services to discuss preparations to ensure regular work of the city’s energy systems in connection with introduction of power cutback.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, told Asia-Plus that Ubaidulloyev had demanded at the meeting that electricity rationing introduced in some areas of Dushanbe should affect medical and educational facilities, as well as multi-story buildings.

“During the meeting it was noted that electricity supplies to the facilities of the nationwide importance will not be cut off,” said the spokesman, “Electricity supplies will be cut off to inconsiderable enterprises and organizations, as well as blocks of residential buildings, which have alternative sources of power.”

“The city and district commissions in Dushanbe are to take work of hotlines under special control,” Saidov said.

We will recall the strict electricity cutback has been introduced in some areas in the west of Dushanbe since November 27.  The rationing has resulted in the supply of daily power being reduced to 10 hours: four hours in the morning (from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.) and six hours in the evening (from 5:p.m to 11:00 p.m.).
