DUSHANBE, February 15, Asia-Plus – An event on occasion of completion of the first stage of the Tajikistan Public Service Reform Support Project was held at the Public Service Directorate under the President of Tajikistan in Dushanbe on February 14.
The Directorate head Asror Latipov telling the event noted that the project funded by the European Union (EU) had made considerable contribution to development of both the Public Service Directorate and the Civil Service Training Institute in Tajikistan. “The European Union, in particular, provided office equipment for a total of Euro 130,000,” said Latipov, “The frist stage of the project launched in 2005 was funded due to a Euro 900,000 grant provided by the European Union.”
For his part, Adriaan van der Meer, Ambassador of the European Union to Central Asia, noted that the first stage had finished successfully. “Besides provided office equipment, we have also provided assistance in publication of brochures, organization of experience exchange between Tajik civil servants and their foreign colleagues,” , noted Head of the Delegation of the European Commission, “If the second stage is successful as well, I hope that next year we will launch the third phase.”
