DUSHANBE, March 13, Asia-Plus — Voskresnik (from Russian word for Sunday; day of volunteer work in the former Soviet union, the tradition, which is continued in Tajikistan) with participation of President Emomali Rahmonov on planting the National Gardens of Dushanbe with trees was held on Sunday, March 11.
According to presidential press service, more than 3,500 employees from president’s executive office, ministries and organizations of the country took part in the voskresnik.
The National Gardens of Dushanbe is being created in the place of Botanical Gardens of Tajik National University.
More than 16,000 seedlings of various decorative fruit trees as well as more than 14,000 seedlings of coniferous trees were planted during the March 11 voskresnik. Within the next one or two years, the conifers will be replanted in other places.
A total area of the National Gardens of Dushanbe is 90 hectares and the total number of trees in it is 54,000, with 25,000 of them being fruit trees.
