Majlisi Milli session accepts resignations sent in by former governors of Sughd, GBAO

DUSHANBE, June 7, Asia-Plus — The 11th session of the upper house (Majlisi Milli) of the Tajik parliament presided over by its chairman, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, was held in Dushanbe today.  

The session considered and seconded 13 laws adopted by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) in May. 

Among laws considered at the session were the president-initiated amendments to the country’s law on public service and administrative code as well as the law on the order of observing national traditions and rituals  

 The session also considered and endorsed amendments made to the advertisement law.  Under the amendments, the advertising activity is not liable to licensing.  

Members of the Majlisi Milli also seconded amendments to a number of other laws.  The amendments were made in connection with bringing them into compliance with president’s decree of November 30, 2006 on a new structure of organs of the executive power and the laws on licensing certain types of activities and inspection of activity of economic entities. 

The Majlisi Milli session also accepted resignations sent in by members of the Majlisi Milli Qosim Qosimov (former Sughd governor), Alimamad Noyozmamadov (former governor of the GBAO), Shakarbek Samadov, Mavjuda Boboyeva, Juma Zokirov, and Idris Shojonov.  Qosimov was relieved of his post of the first deputy speaker of the Majlisi Milli, and Niyozmamadov was relieved of his post of deputy speaker of the upper house.  Samadov was relieved of his post of head of the Majlisi Milli committee, and Boboyeva, Zokirov, and Shojonov were removed from the Majlisi Milli committees.
