On Saturday, July 16, President Emomali Rahmon paid a working visit to Khovaling district in Khatlon province, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
The main purpose of the visit was for the head of state to get acquainted with the socioeconomic situation in the district, targeted use of lands, living conditions of the district residents and hold meetings with the district residents.
Rahmon reportedly commissioned a pasta production workshop in the district. This industrial facility was built by the management and founders of JSC "Khovaling" in preparation for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence and the implementation of the fourth national goal – the accelerated industrialization of the country.
The enterprise, which created 10 new jobs, produces 4 types of pasta, 1.5 tons per day and 45 tons per month.
After the commissioning of the pasta production workshop, Rahmon visited an exhibition of industrial and agricultural goods. The exhibition reportedly featured 5 types of honey, agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, juices and canned food, cereals and products manufactured by industrial shops and enterprises of the region. Ready-made agricultural machinery and mechanisms were also exhibited, and the agricultural potential of the region was presented.
The head of state also inaugurated a non-state Medical College in the administrative center of the district. The construction of the college was reportedly financed by domestic entrepreneurs Ismoil Sadurov and Abdullo Hasanov. The college is designed to enroll 330 students in two shifts. The college offers education in 4 specialties such as nursing, midwifery, pharmacy and dentistry.
