Rahmon congratulates Lula da Silva on Brazil election win

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has sent his congratulations to Mr. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on his election to be the next president of Brazil, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In his message of congratulations, Emomali Rahmon noted on October 31 that Tajikistan is interested in further expansion of the bilateral cooperation with Brazil in all spheres being of mutual interest.

“I express our readiness for taking joint efforts for fruitful promotion of friendly relations.  I am sure that constructive ties between our countries will continue to have their continuation in accordance with the fundamental interests of the parties,” says the message.

Mr. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva beat Jair Bolsonaro in what some have called the country’s most important polls since its return to democracy.

He will become Brazil's 39th president on Jan. 1, 2023 after serving as the nation’s 35th president from 2003 to 2010.
