On Monday March 7, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon congratulated women of Tajikistan on Mother’s Day, which is celebrated in the country on March 8, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
“Mother is the first educator and mentor of a person. She is like a spring dawn illuminated by flowers, like the sun of love and tenderness, peace and tranquility. Mother is the bringer of peace and tranquility. That is why in world literature the mother is called the angel of love, a holy creature,” Tajik leader noted in his message of congratulations.
Given the tangible role of women in political, economic, social and cultural life of society, the head of state emphasized that ensuring the rights and protection of the interests of mothers and all females is one of the most important directions of the government’s policy.
According to him, women make up 25% of the country's civil servants, with 20 percent of them holding leadership positions.
Besides, omen make up 25 percent of individual entrepreneurs and 23 percent of heads of faming units in the country, Rahmon noted.
The president also said that 900 women are working on the construction of the most important facility – the Roghun hydropower plant.
Recall, International Women’s Day has been known in Tajikistan as the Day of the Mother since March 2009. Congratulating women on March 8, 2009, President Emomali Rahmon said that International Women’s Day has only been celebrated on March 8 for about 100 years, but that ancient Aryan women — the ancestors of the Tajiks — had special days both for mothers, specifically, and for women in general.
