DUSHANBE, July 25, 2011, Asia-Plus — On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, military parades will be held in all regional administrative centers of the country – Khorog, Khujand and Qurghon Teppa, Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), told Asia-Plus today.
According to him, servicemen of sub-units of the Ministry of Defense and other power-wielding structures deployed in the regions will take part in the parades.
We will recall that more than 10,000 soldiers and officers from the Dushanbe Garrison of the Ministry of Defense, as well as Ministries of Interior and Justice, as well as the National Guards and the Border Guard Department of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) are expected to be on military parade in the Tajik capital on September 9.
The military parade will not involve military materiel and Tajik Defense Minister, Colonel-General Sherali Khairulloyev, and Commander of the Dushanbe Garrison, Major-General Latif Fayziyev, will command the parade in Dushanbe, the spokesman said.
