Afghan drug control officers take training course in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, August 3, 2011, Asia-Plus — Eights officers from the Afghan Ministry of Interior are currently taking training course in Dushanbe on using i2 software solutions for investigation of drug-trafficking crimes.

Officers from the Sweden National Criminal Police are conducting the training for Afghan police officers at the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan, the DCA press center reports.

Launched on July 25, the training course, which is conducted in the framework of the UNODC project, Drug Law Enforcement Systems for Data Collection, Analysis and Exchange of Operational Information, runs through August 5.

The work on training Afghan drug control officers in Tajikistan reportedly began in 2008, when the first two-week training was conducted for Afghan police officers at the Drug Control Agency in the framework of the Russia-NATO project, the source said.
