Problems of countering illegal drug trafficking discussed in Moscow

DUSHANBE, March 27, 2012, Asia-Plus  — A joint meeting of working groups of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)’s Coordinating Council of Competent Bodies on Countering Illegal Drug Trafficking (KSOPN) took place in Moscow at the end of last week.

Representatives of Tajikistan also attended the meeting.  According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan, the experts discussed issues related to cooperation between the CSTO member nations in combating transnational criminal groups involved in smuggling drugs out of Afghanistan and exchange of information resources.

The meeting reportedly also considered the results of implementation of the planned events in 2011 and the plan of actions for this year.
