Lands of faming unit in GBAO allotted to the defense ministry for construction of training ground

By Government’s regulation a land plot in Shugnan district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) has been allotted to the Ministry of Defense for construction of training ground.

Under this regulation, a land plot of a total area of 1,075.3 hectares of the Pomir farming unit in the Shugnan district is provided to the Ministry of Defense for perpetual use for construction of the training ground for conducting tactical exercises on shooting and driving.

The area that is allotted for the training ground is located about 120 kilometers east of GBAO’s capital, Khorog.      

Of those 1,075.3 hectares, 109.08 hectares are pastures, 0.62 hectares are rivers, 94.98 hectares are sands, 0.03 hectare is roads and paths, and 870.59 hectares, are areas, where scree and gravel, and slides came down.   

There are five military training grounds operating in Tajikistan: Mumirak not far from the city of Kulob; Harbmaidon in the territory of Khatlon’s Shahritous district; Fakhrobod in Khatlon province, around 30 kilometers south of Dushanbe; Lohour in Roudaki district; and Sumbuli in Khatlon province not far from Khatlon’s capital, Bokhtar.
