DUSHANBE, June 3, 2011, Asia-Plus — It is vary hard to live in Tajikistan on current average salary estimated at 472 somoni (equivalent to some US$103), member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), Ismoil Talbakov, said.
“Rising fuel prices have led to increase in prices of basic food products in the country, inflation rate is rising,” MP said, pointing to the necessity of working out a normal basket of goods.
“The parliament has passed the law on the basket of goods of Tajikistan and under this law, relevant bodies of the country are to determine the size of the basket of goods,” said Talbakov, “However, this work has not yet been done.”
We will recall that according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the cost of the set of food products included in the consumer basket for actual consumption in prices as of the end of April 2011 was 125.00 somoni (equivalent to US$27.70) per one family member per month, and with the norm for a balanced diet it was 241.00 somoni (equivalent to some US$53.50), the reported.
