DUSHANBE, June 17, 2011, Asia-Plus – The Government of Tajikistan should develop and take control over mechanism of implementation of the Law “On parental responsibility for the education and upbringing of children” that was approved on Wednesday by the lower chamber of Tajikistan’s parliament, Ismoil Talbakov, a deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Lower Chamber) of the Majlisi Oli (the Parliament) told the AP.
He believes that the newly approved law is unique and is aimed to protect the interests of young citizens of Tajikistan.
“The law not only protects children from religious pressure,” he said. “According to the law, parents must prevent their children from drinking alcohol, including beer, smoking, doing hard work, vagrancy, reading, viewing and distributing porno materials.”
Additionally, Talbakov said that according to the law, parents should forbid their children to wear jewelry and attend entertaining centers at night time if their children are below 20 years of age.
“Parents will also have to forbid their children under 6 years of age to appear in public places if they are not accompanied by a person above 14 years of age,” deputy said.
Ismoil Talbakov stressed that “Responsibilities of parents for education of children” is the most important section of the law. According to this section, parents must create all related conditions required for education of their children, provide them with learning materials and uniform.
