QURGHON TEPPA, July 18, 2011, Asia-Plus — A number of privatized enterprises in Qurghon Teppa, capital of Khatlon province have stood idle for several years.
Qurghon Teppa Mayor Sharifkhon Samiyev remarked this on July 15 at a meeting of the regional administrators to review the results of the past six months’ work.
Speaking at the meeting, Samiyev noted that several industrial enterprises in the city that had been privatized by separate individuals have not been in operation for several years.
“When we have applied to their owners and asked them to resume operations, they said they do not have enough funds for reintroduction of the enterprises into operation,” said the mayor, “I ask to consider the issue of renationalization of these enterprises. The oil mill stands idle, while the bread-baking plant “Barakat” now produces only 20 kilograms of flour per day. The time has come to declare these enterprises bankrupt and give them back to the state.”
