The Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan says the total wage arrears, taking into account previous years, at the beginning of the second half of 2022 has amounted to about 28.5 million somonis (equivalent to about 2.8 million U.S. dollars).
The wage arrears reportedly rose 1.5 percent or 431,700 somonis in a month to June 30 this year.
The growth of the wage arrears has been observed in all sectors of the country, except agriculture.
The highest wage debt has reportedly been reported in the mining sector – about 15 million somonis (52.6 percent of the total wage arrears).
In the service sphere (transportation and cargo storage), the wage areas have reportedly amounted to about 6.3 million somonis (22.1 percent).
According to data from the Agency for Statistics, an average monthly nominal wage in Tajikistan in June amounted to 1,907.00 somonis (equivalent to US$185.00).
In Tajikistan, the highest average monthly wage is reported in banking sector – 5,199.00 somonis (equivalent to US$505.00).
The lowest average monthly wage is reported in the agrarian sector – 645.00 somonis (equivalent to US$63.00).
Recall, a minimum monthly wage has risen 50 percent in Tajikistan, reaching 600.00 somonis.
By president’s decree on measures aimed at strengthening the level of population's social security and increasing the minimum wage, public sector wage, pensions and allowances [scholarships] signed of January 13 this year, the minimum monthly wage for all economic and social spheres of Tajikistan is set at 600.00 somonis from July 1, 2022 (50-percent increase).
As it had been reported earlier, by president’ decree signed on June 6, 2016, the minimum monthly wage in Tajikistan rose 60 percent and was set at 400.00 somonis from July 1, 2016.
