The Government of Japan supports the education sector of Tajikistan

On September 22, 2022, the ceremony of signing grant contracts for two new projects was held at the Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe. Grant contracts were signed between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Toshihiro AIKI and beneficiaries. The total amount of grants provided by the Government of Japan is 256,500 US dollars.

The two new projects funded under the Government of Japan’s “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)” are as follows:

  • "Project for the construction of school No. 62 in the village of Sarkamysh of the Jamoat of Gulsara Yusufov, Yavan district", signed with Mr. SAIDZODA Jamshed, Chairman of the Yavan district, in the amount of 132,818 US dollars.

  • “Project for Renovation of School No.10 in Safobakhsh Village, Aksu Jamoat, Danghara District ”, signed with Mr. RAHMON Islomiddin, Chairman of Dangara District, in the amount of 123,682 US dollars.

During the ceremony H.E. Mr. Toshihiro AIKI noted that Japan has been assisting Tajikistan as a good friend in a wide range of areas for more than 30 years since the independence of Tajikistan. Education is one of the most important areas of bilateral cooperation between Japan and Tajikistan. Also, Mr. AIKI expressed hope for the successful completion of the projects.

Within the project, a new school building with 11 classrooms will be built in the Yavan district in the village of Sarkamysh. Currently, this school lacks classrooms, as a result of which some students are forced to go to schools in neighboring villages. This project will solve this problem and allow all students to study at school No.54.
