The Tajik Embassy in Kyiv urged its citizens to leave Ukraine due unpredictable security situation.

“The Embassy of Tajikistan recommends citizens who have not yet left Ukraine, to do so and those who planned to come to this country to refrain from this step,” Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr. Davlat Nazri, told Asia-Plus in an interview by phone Tuesday afternoon.

“Yesterday our consular officer urged all leaders and activists of Tajik communities to remain in shelters and follow the recommendations of local authorities,” said Ambassador Nazri.  “Today we plan to inform all our nationals staying in Ukraine.  We recommend those who are still in Ukraine strictly complying with the requirements of martial law and regulations of local authorities to ensure personal security, and leave the territory of Ukraine whenever possible.  Citizens who planned to come to Ukraine are advised to refrain from traveling until the situation is normal.”

According to him, all Tajik students who have studied at Ukrainian universities returned to Tajikistan.

“Other citizens work; there are entrepreneurs among them, some of them are here with members of their families,” noted Tajik diplomat.  “Besides, over the past month, we have observed a trend of return of our citizens to Ukraine, those who left it after the beginning of hostilities.”

According to data from the Tajik Embassy in Kyiv, currently about 2,000 citizens of Tajikistan are in Ukraine.
