Compared to January-September last year, the number of foreign nationals visiting Tajikistan over the first nine months of this year has reportedly increased 2.5 times.
According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, 870,000 foreign citizens have visited Tajikistan over the first nine months of this year, which is 526,000 people more than in the same period last year.
The largest influx of foreigners into the country was reported in the third quarter of the year – more than 400 people.
The number of Russians entering Tajikistan has grown the most over the reporting period. Over the first two quarters of the year (January-June), 112,000 nationals of the Russian Federation have entered Tajikistan, while over the third quarter of the year (July-September), 113,000 Russian citizens have enter Tajikistan.
The high influx of Russians into the country is most likely due to the partial mobilization announced in the Russian Federation on September 21.
It is to be noted that despite its remoteness from Russia, Tajikistan has also become a place of migration for Russians. Rooms in hotels in Dushanbe are reportedly booked for the coming weeks, and an unusually large number of Russians appeared on the streets in Dushanbe.
Over the third quarter of the year, 575,000 nationals of Uzbekistan visited Tajikistan (255,000 more than in the first two quarters), Kazakhstan – 18,000 (8.300 more than in the first two quarters), Turkiye – 5,200 (2,500 more than in the first two quarters), Kyrgyzstan – 3,500 (1,800 more than in the first two quarters), Iran – 3,200 (1,400 more than in the first two quarters), Afghanistan – 2,500 (1,000 more than in the first two quarters).
Meanwhile, of 870,000 foreigners who have entered Tajikistan in January-September this year, 685,000 have reportedly visited Tajikistan as tourists.
Compared to the same period last year, the influx of tourists into the country has increased 3.7 times – from 184,000.
According to data from the Agency for Statistics, 242 tourist companies have operated in Tajikistan as of July 1, 2022, which was 16 companies more than in the same period last year.
182 hotels, including six five-star, 21 four-star, 16 three-star and three two-star ones, now operate in Tajikistan.
Besides, 29 hostels and motels, 50 sanatoriums, seven spa-and-recreation centers, eight rest houses, one boarding house, one camping and five tourist centers now operate in Tajikistan.
